2021 elite
beach season
Kit’s that time of year again, volleyball season for ballers is back! We will be offering a k2 beach elite program starting in april 2021, running through july 2021. this program is for players with beach & indoor club experience and will involve traveling to out of town/state beach tournaments, however, going to tournaments is not required. the k2 beach elite is for ages 11-18.
Beach volleyball is the single best way to develop overall volleyball skills and all-around players.
Benefits include:
-
Builds quick thinking and problem-solving ability
-
Overall fitness is improved through vigorous nature of competition
-
Toughness and grit improve, as well, because of the difficulty of the sport and having to deal with the adverse conditions (sand, sun, wind)
-
Develops more versatile, all around players because with only two players covering the entire court, all skills must be utilized
-
The number of touches/reps, in the average beach practice, is much more than in a typical indoor practice
-
Increases college opportunities, as beach volleyball is the fastest growing sport in NCAA history
The program will be run by Cory Felts, our current k2 boys director/18s coach and former professional sand competitor. cory has played and/or coached indoor and sand volleyball for 30 years. beach training will focus on your personal development, confidence, strength and agility; all of which you can take back indoors to improve your all-around game.
tournaments are not mandatory and touranment fees are not included in your beach fees. you are required to register your 2 person team for the tournament you will be attending. links for potential tournaments will be shared several weeks before the tournaments via facebook on our k2 beach elite page so you can decide if you will be traveling with your partner. slots fore these tournaments are on a first come first serve basis. as there are tournaments every weekend somewhere, you are encouraged to participate and travel as much as you want. links for sand clubs and their tournaments are below. youare paying for sand volleyball training, which is why the fees for the tournaments are not included. no partner is required for training. if you do not have a partner, Coach Cory will try to match complimentary players, to the best of available options. he will assist with partner matchups but getting a partner to play with you in a tournament cannot be guaranteed. it is encouraged for players to try and find/meet a partner on their own during training.
beach gear: we will be using bumblee for adidas beach gear this year! below is a link to purchase gear for you and your player. parents are encouraged to buy whatever items you want for yourselves as well. coach cory does require that you play in k2 gear, so please keep that in mind while ordering. currently there are no adidas option for boys beach shorts. the boys can play in any bottoms they choose. the girls spandex on the link will not hav ethe k2 logo and they can play in any spandex, shorts, or bathing suit bottoms at most tournaments so do not feel like you have to purchase those spandex unless you just need extra. the k2 beach store will be open until april 21st.

It’s easier to take your outdoor skills in to the gym than to bring your indoor skills outside. Simple reason. Beach volleyball forces you to have all the skills. That’s why I think it’s a good idea for indoor players to play on the beach. Learning those skills can only help improve a player’s indoor performance. All my years playing on the beach as a kid certainly helped my indoor game. If nothing else, a player’s quickness and jump will be increased by playing on soft sand.” -3-time Olympic Gold Medalist & current USA Olympic Team Head Coach -Karch Kiraly
